EDITABLE ARTICLE

This is an "in file" content that can be edited throught the editable content strategy. Note that only the last version of edited content is stored in the source file, in order to allow local updating using text file transformations or direct editing in a text editor.

This mode of operation is also usefull to make older content editable, avoiding all the text to be transfered into a database.

The inplace operation only requires the server has "write access" to the source files, in order to be able rewrinting the page content. This may be not so obvious on some Unix installs.

A WCT_EDITABLE inplace component may handle multiple blocs within the same page. To do this, just make the "inplace marker" depend on the content item unique Id : FORM::wct24_item. The DIML home pages uses this scenario.

Note that editing inplace will bounce once a request when updating, to show you the modified source.

Content will also be updated in the database for tracking older versions, though the effectively displayed content commes from the file. This allows ultra fast content fixing by hard editing the file, but it will necessarily provoque a desynchronization with the last known database content.
